Meanwhile, Foot-And-Mouth
This might have been already posted, but still
Seoul - Thousands of cases of foot-and-mouth disease were reported Thursday to have broken out on a livestock breeding farm near the North Korean capital Pyongyang.
The South Korean press agency Yonhap quoted the chief veterinarian of the South Korean Ministry of Agriculture Kim Chang Seob as saying the cases were the first of the highly contagious disease in North Korea that were confirmed by the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE).
I post this (again?) because another deadlock that is going on in the FTA between the US and South Korea is over the import of US beef. Somehow, I cannot imagine South Korea panicling over the dubious nature of North Korean goods the same way it is panicking over bone fragments in US beef. One could say that they are not importing food from the North, or are they?
