How Not to Protest

Posted by kyochan

Gangsta’ is out

A gangster was arrested on Monday for sending his own severed finger along with a threatening letter to a pro-North Korea organization in Japan, police said.

Yoshitaka Fukumoto, 27, a member of the Kozakura Ikka syndicate, told police that he cut off his little finger himself.

Fukumoto sent the letter to the leader of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan in Tokyo’s Chiyoda-ku on Sept. 16, saying that he was going to punish North Korea. His finger, wrapped in gauze, was enclosed with the letter.

The letter reportedly protested July’s missile tests and demanded that the abduction issue be solved.

The organization filed a report with Tokyo police on receiving the letter. (Mainichi)

Beyond the weirdness of this story is a lesson on standing up to one’s beliefs. Do not waver on charges of “guilt by association”.

It is well known that members of LiNK are united by the belief of freeing the North Korean people. But without that belief, we will rip each other apart. Hell, I would rip people.

There will be times when detractors would say, “well, you happen to agree with (insert unsavory character)”. That’s not an argument. Some ideas are greater than the people who wield them.
