North and South Hostile Again

North Korea’s serial missile launches Wednesday proved to be the last straw for the pro-Seoul Korean Residents Union in Japan (Mindan) in its efforts at “historic reconciliation” with its pro-Pyongyang rival.
Mindan announced Thursday it is officially renouncing the joint reconciliation statement it reached May 17 with the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryun).
It called the test-firing of seven missiles a provocative move that left it no choice but to drop rapprochement with its ideological rival.
In a written statement issued Thursday, Mindan President Ha Byung Ok denounced Pyongyang for ratcheting up tensions and creating anxieties for Korean residents in Japan.
“By reconciling with Chongryun, we thought we could become a bridge between Japanese society and Chongryun and eventually between Japan and North Korea,” Ha wrote. “But the missile launches dashed all those hopes.”
This is what happens when North Korea tried pulling a Pearl Harbor again. But judging from the article Mindan thought reconsiliation was a bad idea to begin with. Just because North Korea has a problem with the truth does not mean we ignore it.
